Homeschool mom here. Just checking in to say that pencils that don't sharpen centered irritate the pieces out of me. You know when you sharpen and sharpen, turn the pencil a quarter turn and sharpen some more, and the durn thing still comes out with wood fully covering one side. Ahhhh. Like nails on a chalk board to me.
I was trying to decide if I needed a new sharpener or new pencils. I asked some friends and they recommended Ticonderoga pencils. I checked out Amazon and found Mirado Black Warriors. Great reviews AND they are made right here in the USA. I picked up a small package at HyVee and then ordered more from Amazon. I needed to order Pippies for Jack anyway. Yes, we order chocolate cereal through Amazon. It's cheaper than the local grocery store (and shipping is free).
Anyway, I get sidetracked easily. I love them! And isn't it more fun to write with a "Warrior" than a pencil? Just like it's more fun to eat "run-fast-asparagus" and "get-strong-muscles-steak". Not only do they come pre-sharpened, but when I test-sharpened them they stayed centered and write smoothe! No more half-wood covered pencils! Isn't it sad that even little things like pencils just aren't made the way they used to? The bulk box of pencils I bought last fall are just a bunch of junk. Seems like I have to research and review everything anymore, otherwise I end spending good money on items that just end up in the trash - like these bulk pencils.
Oh my gosh. I am so buying some of those pencils! Uneven sharpening is something that's irritated me since, oh, second grade. (Sharpen sharpen sharpen, check the point, sharpen sharpen sharpen sharpen, check again, sharpen sharpen sharpen... grumble grumble, I give up.)
